- Name and email address (provided when you sign in with Google or Apple)
- Profile photo (optional, provided by your sign-in provider)
Trip and travel data
- Trips, itineraries, notes, expenses, packing lists, and documents you create within the app
- Photos and files you attach to trips (stored in Firebase Storage)
Device permissions
- Camera – used to scan receipts and capture photos for your trips
- Photos / Media library – used to let you select images from your gallery to attach to trips and travel stories
- Microphone / Speech – used for voice input when adding trip details
Usage and technical data
- Crash reports and app diagnostics collected automatically by Firebase Crashlytics
- Basic device information (OS version, device type) for compatibility purposes
Purchase information
- Subscription status and transaction identifiers (processed by Apple App Store or Google Play – we do not store payment card details)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and sync your travel data across your devices
- To authenticate your account securely
- To process in-app purchases and manage your subscription
- To generate AI-assisted trip suggestions (your trip context is sent to an AI service; no personally identifiable information beyond trip content is shared)
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- To send you important account or service notifications
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
My Travel Buddy uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google) – authentication, cloud database (Firestore), file storage, and crash reporting
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In – account authentication
- Google Maps – displaying maps and location search within the app
- Google Play / Apple App Store – in-app purchases and subscription billing
- Anthropic Claude API – AI-powered trip planning suggestions
5. Data Storage and Security
Your trip data is stored locally on your device and, when signed in, synced to Firebase (Google Cloud) servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase Security Rules to restrict access to your data.
Only you can access your personal trips. Shared trips are accessible only to users you explicitly invite.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app settings. After deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
My Travel Buddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
